90 Minutes In Heaven- A True Story of Death - Life

4 stars (Good Book but Name is Misleading) - A very good and interesting book, however, the 90 minutes in heaven only take up a couple of pages. The rest of the book deals with all the aspects of recovering from a major accident. I think everyone can learn something from reading this book. Hopefully we will not have to go through similar recovery periods to learn the lessons that are passed on in this book. I would definitely recommend this book! 5 stars (Very Convincing....) - From my own 36+ years of experience walking with God on & off the mission field, the chapters detailing the author's experience before the "pearlescent" main gate of New Jerusalem really witnessed to me. His experience only takes up two chapters in the book, but for me they were almost life-changing - and they did forever alter my perceptions of my temporary stay here on this earth. Brother Piper writes, "I get frustrated describing what heaven was like, because I can't put into words what it looked like, sounded like, and felt like." Nevertheless, he does a good enough job in my humble estimation. Piper states further, "The only way I've made sense out of that part of the experience is to think that if I had actually seen God, I would never have wanted to return (to earth)." Every sentence he writes seems worthy of pondering & meditating over - it is almost as if one is experiencing what he experienced as it is read. The difference between these two chapters & the rest of the book is dramatic Piper must deal with the reality of a broken body as the result of his horrendous accident & all the patient suffering he has endured as he witnesses to the glories of "90 minutes in Heaven." It would be worthwhile to buy the book to read those two chapters alone, in my opinion. But the rest of the book is worthwhile for those many who have been & will continue to be encouraged by it in their own walk of faith. 5 stars (An Interesting Story...............) - All these reviews pretty much tell you ...

5 stars (Simply the best training book on the subject) - From all the books I have on the subject, this is the first that can be used as training material. It's comprehensive, easy to use and read, and the reader isn't bored to death with lenghty oppinions by the authors. They present everything that you need to know in an easy and fun training program. 5 stars (Practical and not overwhelming) - It is very important to be able to follow people who have experience with a subject. If someone has done it before then I know I can do it too. Great book, well written. 5 stars ( Mastering Astral Projection vs Astral Dynamics) - While defiantly not as technical or detailed as his other book, Astral Dynamics, Mastering Astral Projection provides the techniques in a much more structured format. I had owned Astral Dynamics for over a year, periodically doing some of the exercises, but unable to make any real progress. By the end of the first month of using this new book my energy body was buzzing all day long and even my normal dreams were being regularly transformed into OBEs. The affirmations plus the additional exit techniques make this book unique from its predecessor, but most important for me was the day by day structure which forced me to take the time and do the work needed to be able to consciously project. If you have natural iron clad will power, then defiantly just buy Astral Dynamics. Otherwise, it doesn't get any better then Mastering Astral Projection . ...

It addresses a wide range of aspects of reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension, to name just a few. For each area, the book includes several key sections: WHAT is ...?; WHY is ... important?; and HOW do you teach ...? The layout is simple to follow, and it is packed with excellent activities. It is truly amazing how much information is included in this one book. Most importantly, the content of the book is soundly based in current research that is presented in a very accessible way. The activities are well-designed and realistic, and all the necessary information is included to be able to implement the activity in your classroom. Every teacher should have a copy of this book! 5 stars (CORE Teaching Reading Resourcebook) - CORE Teaching Reading Resourcebook is a superior book to use as a reference in the classroom. It supports all areas of reading in grades K-8. Also it has wonderful advice about ELL students. Not only does this book have information about teaching reading, but it has hands on teaching methods that are proven practices. Some of the larger areas of the book are word structure, sound/print connection, decoding, spelling, vocabulary development, comprehension, reading and responding, and differentiated instruction. CORE Teaching Reading Resourcebook greatly compliments Words Their Way, another must have book. One downfall about this book is the page numbering system, but as you work from the book it becomes less difficult. My first book was given to me from the California Reading and Literature Project and I'm buying another copy for my son, who is also a teacher. I would recommend this book to any teacher interested in improving their knowledge of teaching reading. I often review my teaching strategies with this book before finalizing my lesson plans. ...

5 stars (Really Thought Provoking....) - The material is all gleened from hypnosis clients - no proof. However it resonated with me as the most logical of realities. -In my world it gave me a feeling of a paradigm shift. -- I now better understand the odd pairings of children and parents, the compulsions and the feelings of "out of sync" in a whole new light. I would highly reccommend it to people interested in the "whys" of life and the "where do we go from here". 5 stars (Revealing!) - The best book I've ever read regarding reincarnation, past lives or where we go between lives. This is my favorite "gift" to give to anyone. Dr. Newton shares his case studies with us in a very understandable format that makes the reader not want to put the book down. 5 stars (A life-changer) - A life is transient--we're born, we live, we die--but the soul goes on, born into a new body, gathering experiences lifetime after lifetime. These accumulated life experiences influence the current, active lifetime on a subconscious level,and some traumatic experiences leave troubling footprints on one's current life. Dr.Newton (Ph.D.)shows through case histories of patients who have been "regressed" (scientific and verifiable), that a contemporary stumbling block can resolved by identifying the trauma that created it. For example, a mystifying pain in this lifetime can be a "soul memory" of an injury in a past life; or a current pathological fear of water is from a "soul memory" of drowning in a past life. Then there are the souls who are so deeply connected that they have share many lifetimes as siblings, and close friends, and spouses. What was most fascinating to me was the "memory" of what happens between lives, when we return to our "soul groups," review our lives, see what lessons we have learned and which ones we have to try again. The Crosscultural- Language- and Academic Development Handbook- A Complete K-12 Reference Guide 2nd

3 stars (CLAD Text) - A well written text essential for acquiring CLAD credentialing. Myths are perpetuated which greatly reduces the credibility - there is only one "race", humans or Homo sapiens. Very few of us were born or came from the Caucasus Mountains of eastern Europe, yet 17th century artificial constructs of "race" and "Caucasian" are used. There is no discussion of how skin pigmentation is an ecotype adaptation, not a "race." Science, Scientific American, Discovery and other peer-reviewed journals have corrected "race" misconceptions repeatedly - yet the authors, with education backgrounds, appear to have not completed a review of current literature. There is no discussion of critical thinking (www.criticalthinking.org). Children of "color" are discussed, but there is no discussion of children of "pallor". The 3rd edition can be greatly improved by being current, i.e., people of pallor (so-called "white") are now the "minority" in many communities; a CD-ROM or DVD and online video streaming resources; correct use of the term "race." Inquiry is discussed under Science, but only the Natl Science Education Standards are acknowleged - TIMSS, Geography, Project 2061 (AAAS), GLOBE (www.globe.gov) 15,000+ schools in 100 countries on 7 continents and multiple other standards are ignored. The authors get it wrong regarding the language of Science, many students with nonEnglish backgrounds have an advantage over English speakers because of the Latin and Greek roots. Effective teaching uses "hands-on, minds-on" not "familiarize, memorize, regurgitate and forget." Effective K-12 and university instructors minimize lecturing and maximize opportunities to internalize knowledge across curricula. Flow- The Psychology of Optimal Experience

3 stars (Important concept, but, badly written book) - The concept is important and the author shows good understanding of optimal experience, i.e., what are the prerequisites, what goes on, what do people feel when they are in flow and the analysis of all of it. Credit goes to the author for all these. But, there are too many awfully written paragraph that will make you wonder if you are wasting time with this book. Especially, initially where it's too verbose and preachy. I guess it badly needs one more (better) editing. 3 stars (Marginal) - My primary complaint is the anoying music between each track. However, it also seemed like it was a very light treatment of the material. This could easily be due to the nature of abridged audio books. But, I would not recomend the audio book. 5 stars (Flow away) - Cziskszentmihalyi introduces an experiential concept that he calls "Flow". He suggests that this experiential state is intricately related to our happiness and explores the central factors that are associated with the phenomena. By comparing various examples of moments of "Flow" and others not of "Flow", the author provides an in depth investigation into this subjective state of mind. Some of the author's scientific research on this topic is also discussed. It is clear that the author is onto something very interesting and important just from the fact that this concept has crept into many books on Psychology in the past few years. 5 stars (The Knitting experience: Book 1: The Knit Stitch) - I am an experience knitter and I love this book. The designs are not only simple but aesthetically beautiful. I am inspired to knit them all. Christine Montano. 5 stars (The Knit Stitch) - Loved this book. Good for beginners as well as seasoned knitters. 5 stars (This is the books that is teaching me to knit) - As a experienced crocheter, I've been disappointed with the lack of nice sweater patterns. So I decided to learn how to knit. After reading "Knitting for Dummies", I was just as confused as before. Then I picked up this book. The book is extremely easy to read and learn from. The step by step photos are very helpful when you are trying to decipher where the heck your hands, fingers, and yarn should be. By following along with the photos, I have been able to successfully complete two projects in this book, and I am beginning another one. The patterns are very nice. Of course, as with any pattern book, there are some that I have no interest in making, but there are at least 5 more that I can't wait to try. One reviewer has said that the patterns are monotanous with lots of knitting. Ms Melville states in the book that these projects were designed with lots of knitting on purpose, in order to have the new knitter practice, practice, practice. To me, there is an upside and a downside to this. The upside: by the time I finished the bulky yarn poncho, I had mastered the knit stitch and tension. The downside: I would like to make the Best Friend Jacket ( a cool assymetrical sweater ), but in order to get enough yarn for it, I'm going to be dropping a chunk of money for the yarn. This can be daunting for a newbie, who is unsure of their commitment to the craft (I, personally, am ordering my $100 worth of yarn today for the jacket, after 3 weeks of debating whether I would actually finish it or not) A side note on the patterns I have finished: The super bulky weight poncho turned out AW...
