World of Warcraft

5 stars (If you want an online game this is the one to pick.) - I really love this game! I have been playing for more than 6 months and the "new" effect still hasn't worn off. The graphics are great and there are alot of places to explore. It's easy to level and items aren't too expensive. Trust me. This game is worth its price! 4 stars (Good addictive game.) - I like this game a lot. You can play it however you want, although it does mostly sadly caters to hardcore games, rather then casual gamers. It is still really good. Graphics-wise its looks decent, not the best, and not the worst but decent. Community-wise i have found all depends on the individual. you have to make things happen, you also have to work to make a community in the game. Gameplay-wise i think it is a little on the easy-side but a lot of fun. To respond breiefly to the guy talking about Guild-Wars. "a.no fee" If 15 a month is a problem for you, get a better job or stop playing the game. "b.better story" Only your opinion, which is as valid as mine. I like the storyline in WOW. "c.less cartoonish" Again, your opinion. While I would like it to look a little more realistic, I don't view it negatively that it is not. "d.no fee" Get a job, or quit playing. "e.better community" Not from what I've seen. But thats all perspective. "f.and other stuff" Meaning nothing. Anyway, to conclude. My biggest problem with the game is how addictive it tends to be. I use to run home from work, and play the game 4-5 hours a night. Now I am down to 1 hour a day, which is where I will stay with my playing time. I guess that is a good sign that it is a really good game. 4 stars (Great Word Game) - Bookworm Deluxe is a game set in a library, and features a grid of tan colored Scrabble-like tiles. The object is to click on adjacent letters in order to form words that can be "chomped" by the bookworm. While this may sound easy, there's a twist: burning tiles are added to the board. If you don't use these burning tiles before they hit bottom, the whole library burns down! (Game over, in other words.) You score points based on the length of each word, the scarcity of letters in the word, whether or not there are any reward tiles in the word, and what level of the game you're on. Green tiles appear randomly and, if used, increase the word score. If you make words using 5 or more letters, you earn a gold tile. Use the gold tile and you earn even MORE points! Below the Bookworm is a bonus word; if you make this word, you get a hefty bonus! Sound too tame to you? Well, in addition to the Classic Game, you can choose the Action Game option. In Action Game mode, burning tiles are dropped into the grid at an alarming pace--and will burn through the letters whether you make a move or not! Players earn whimsical titles such as Scribe, Librarian and Editor. You can quit the game and resume it at your leisure. There is also a Hall of Fame which records Top Scores, Best Words (those earning the most points) and Longest Words. For example, I earned 2520 for spelling "nougat", which is my personal best point-wise. This is a great word game, but a word of caution: when I bought this game for Windows XP, the screen said that I only had a 6 minute demo. I'm like "What?!" So I emailed the company and it turns out that you'll need a universal patch in order to "unlock" the game. Norton Personal Firewall 2005 - Single User

1 stars (A Nightmare!) - Would not install (non-stop errors). Continually showed "disabled" (I'd enable it on the menu and the icon would only show "disabled"). Crashed my other software. Support is NONEXISTENT! (They have the nerve to charge $30.00 for technical support- per incident- for help with the garbage they've sold you. Perhaps the only way to actually get help but they weren't getting another dime out of me) I can't believe what's happened with this company. Three years ago it was all we used in our offices (and me at home). Honestly, this has been the worst experience I've ever had with any software. My other four computers have McAfee (no problems). One came with Norton AntiVirus preinstalled so I purchased the (same) firewall. Needless to say they BOTH went! Never again! Just hearing the word "Norton" gives me hives- 1 stars (Unusable) - My new Dell came with this pre-installed. It kept crashing until I removed Norton Personal Firewall, it hasn't crashed since. A client just called, they installed NPF on their computers and killed their entire office network. I'm off to fix that now. 1 stars (Poorly documented, extremely unstable, impractical.) - I'll try and stay fairly objective about this. It will be difficult. I installed this on a brand spanking new Win2K SP4 machine. Here is what I've experienced. 1. Poor to no support documentation for this product, either included or on their web site. 2. Default security policy is not adequate. I've installed server apps that the wizard interface said were reccomended safe, which I know darned well aren't. ( therefore requiring rule customization for the apps to work correctly) 3. Adding even basic firewall rules crashes this product, HARD. 4. Does not play well with others, when it does crash, it can 't be shut down or restarted with the task manager, causing a REQUIRED reboot. 5. I have crashed IE and had this product crash queitly without any alert, leaving my box exposed on the net...

Barbie Horse Adventures- Mystery Ride

4 stars (Could be better) - This game could be better.when i got it for Christmas i played it with my step sister and cousin, and i'll say we finished it in about 20 to 30 minutes.THE WHOLE GAME!!!its fun,but isnt very long,thats why i gave it 4 stars. 3 stars (Blah) - For $20 I thought this would be something a bit more. The "adventure" is a bit boring and doesn't change much each time you play it. The navigation is quite poor compared to other games. Plus there's quite a bit of stutter on some of the vocals (I run a fairly fast machine with 768MB of RAM so I know it's not that). All in all, three stars may be a bit much, but my daughter likes it and I guess that's all that counts. 4 stars (Great For Younger Girls) - For young girls (6-10) just starting with an interest in "Mystery" games, this would be fun and entertaining. Small challenges - not too difficult, but skill-building for younger - make this interesting, but are too easy for more advanced game players. The graphics are okay, even though a bit stiff and cartoonish. Horse-loving girls will enjoy "selecting" their mount (including coat and mane color) and the opportunity to groom, feed and ride. You also get to choose Barbie's outfit and the style/color of your saddle and bridle. My main criticism is that the game time was too short, but for beginners or younger children, this could actually be a plus. ...

Lego Star Wars DVD Mac

1 stars (returning it) - This game is very machine specific..I ordered it for my grandson's birthday and have to return it because the Mac at his house is not the right one for this game. A great disappointment. The technology exists to make things more diverse & be compatible with many computers...this game isn't. 1 stars (Lego Star Wars for Mac by aspry) - Does not work on a normal G4 iMac. Must have a G4 PowerMac or better. Recommended is a G5!!! 4 stars (A good distraction) - Okay, so I would've given this game three and a half stars, but I had to bump it up to four... oh well ;-) Anywho, I would say most of all that this game is a good distraction. Huge Star Wars fans (of which I am a party to) will really enjoy the details and references and the unlockables in this game - which will allow you to finally get to a point where you can kill Jar Jar Binks in the fighting mode (snicker, snicker...). The game play is simple and easy, yet there are definite problems with some of the controls and camera angles, which are OFTEN jerky and awkward, causing repeated falls down cliffs and blaster shots to the plastic behind, dropping down your cutesy little life hearts to zero before you can even turn to face your stubby attacker. Altogether, the cute little figures and neat-o weapons and unlockables (including droids! oh, dozens and dozens of useless droids...) fail to really make up for the crappy gameplay. I would say, if you're a Star Wars fan, shell out the forty and pick it up for a nice 3-5 hour distraction. If not - well, then, don't. ...

Luxor

5 stars (Totally Addictive) - I bought my son a new computer and it came with a variety of game demos, including Zuma Deluxe. Well, when I went to the store to inquire about it, I was told they didn't have it...but had something similar: Luxor . I decided to take a risk and buy it. Let me just say that it's totally addicting! The object of the game is to fire colored spheres out of the "mystical winged scarab" and destroy the approaching colored spheres by making matches of three or more. The approaching spheres wind through various mazes and the "winged scarab" moves from left to right on the bottom of the screen (unlike Zuma Deluxe, where the shooter rotates 360 degrees from the center). There are 88 levels to the game (I'm halfway through it), and it would appear that about 13 mazes or so are repeated throughout the levels, but with differing backgrounds. Another thing that is different is the sphere coloring. In the beginning stages, the spheres are green, yellow, red and blue. Later mazes introduced the color purple. I'm at a stage now where white has been added and, judging from one of the intro screens, black will be added as well. The oncoming spheres snake towards a pyramind (sometimes 2 pyramids simultaneously!), and if you don't eliminate the spheres by that time, the chain whizzes through the pyramid and you lose a life. You shoot the spheres by left-clicking, BUT you can change the color of the ball by right-clicking. At the bottom of the scarab, you're able to see what the next color is going to be which is very strategic if you're getting towards the pyramid and you're being fed a certain color that you don't (desperately!) need. There are neat power-up talismans that fall from the eliminated spheres, and are accompanied by sound effects such as crashing glass, wolf howls, or choir-like singing. Cosmic Blobs- Lab Rat Edition PC -Mac

5 stars (Great for Kids of all ages) - I bought this for my grandkids. They range in age form 6 to 15 and I must say they all really have gotten into it. They have created some really great characters and I really am happy I found this program. 3 stars (Runs slow) - I have a fairly new computer with 512 Meg of RAM. The program is so slow that my kids will not use it. I am considering upgrading my computer RAM to 1024 Meg just for this software, because I want to expose my kids to Solidworks. Punch- Professional Home Design Platinum 8 0

4 stars (Punch! Home design program) - I purchased this product with very little knowledge on CAD software, and building guidelines, etc.. However with a bit of time and effort, including reading the Users guide thoroughly, I have been able to create a fairly realistic idea of what I want my new house to look like. (...) I don't rate the Users Guide as a 5-star guide, and the software's Help section is similarly not that great. I can see this software is very powerful, but getting the most out of it is going to take a lot of patience. 5 stars (Excellent choice) - I purchased this software to built a plan and get ideas for my home. The plan is coming along very nicely. The color scheme, design setails and the overall flexibility of the program is second to none. I could not be happier with a software program of this kind. 4 stars (better instructions needed) - Over all this is a good product BUT be prepared for a high learning curve and instructions that need to be updated for the layman. You can not just purchase this software, and POOF design a house. Although the software comes with a basic book, it is not very helpful when you are having an issue with something and can't figure out what you are doing wrong. The manufactures also need to have a full tutorial included with the software, like what is included with any computer game or wordprocessing program. Although the program has help buttons that you can click on for certain things, I find them to be lacking and not on nearly enough topics. There are however websites that are like "support" groups that offer help in bulletin board or email style (for free!) but once again, until you are familiar with the program and what and how to work with it, it can be frustrating. Personally I purchased this with a specific plan in mind, and I still have not been able to complete it as I am learning and stumbling through it. ...

Nancy Drew- Message in a Haunted Mansion

5 stars (Great game!) - I loved the game but I found it a little scary. It was tricky and challenging, so it lasted a long time. It was spooky so I had to run upstairs sometimes and my dad played it for me. 3 stars (just ok...) - MY kids are 8, and this game just did not keep their interest. Although as an adult, I thought it looked interesting. 5 stars (Message in a Haunted Mansion) - Message in a Haunted Mansion is the 3rd Nancy Drew game of the series! I beat it also, and I love it because it is kinda scary. You hear noises, and see ghosts sometimes too! Some parts you'll have to use "Second Chance" which is a great thing to use when you did something wrong, and you need to redo it, so you can do it right. I love this game a lot, thumbs up to DreamCatcher! ...

The Complete Photo Guide to Home Repair- With 350 Projects and 2300 Photos Black - Decker

5 stars (Invaluable Resource) - We recently purchased an old home with lots of "problems". I borrowed this book from my local library (along with Black & Decker's Home Improvement) and was amazed at how clear and detailed it was. I think the best part is how they use real photos of everything, and not sketches. There are well over 2000 photos. Within days, I was dealing with and solving basement issues, plumbing problems, electrical outlets, and many more things that I did not even thing of. The books helped so much that I decided to go ahead and purchase them here on Amazon. There are countless home improvement books out there and some rank better than others. From what I've seen, the Black & Decker series ranks at the top and are an invaluable resource. It literally pays for itself with all the money saving tips and instructions. I recommend this book, along with Black & Decker's Home Improvement and Outdoor to anyone looking to save money on home repairs. 5 stars (My new favorite home repair guide) - A good home repair guide is an absolute requirement for those of us who know very little about home repair but feel the urge on occasion to tackle some of those odd jobs around the house. 4 stars (COREL DID NOT DISAPPOINT USERS WITH THIS PAINT SHOP PRO X) - Many heads, (including mine), turned in dismay when Corel acquired Paint Shop Pro from Jasc. And although some sad changes have been made, Corel still receives my kudos for keeping this software on the esteemed realm where it belongs. The first two things previous Paint Shop Pro users will notice in this edition is that it spots a new interface, and has gotten significantly faster. Though, this increment falls short of the 50% speed increase, which Corel proudly advertizes. Also, this acclaimed speed came at a price: the software's recommended hardware requirements almost doubled as a result. And, unless you are running a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 equivalent processor or faster, with an absolute minimum of one full gigabyte of RAM to swing it around, you may not even notice this so-called 50% speed increase. Again, Corel's near-complete overhaul of the more familiar user-interface, (which Jasc endeavored to maintain in the earlier editions), means that even well-established users have some new lessons to learn now. For a complete new user, there is absolute nothing to fear. The learning curve for this software is not steep at all. And unless you are already familiar with Adobe's interface, you will discover that this software is much easier to learn when compared to either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. It is as well much more powerful and more robust than the Photoshop Elements. In fact, amongst all the photo-editing suites currently on sale, only the main Adobe Photoshop can defeat this software in a supremacy battle. But do remember that Adobe's outrageously over-valued Photoshop costs approximately twelve times of what Paint Shop Pro costs; despite the fact that Paint Shop Pro can do more than 90% of what it does. PS2 The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Descruction

5 stars (OUTSTANDING!!) - The easiest way I can describe this game is it is basically the Incredible Hulk's version of a family friendly Grand Theft Auto,(minus all the swearing, nudity,etc. that made the GTA games infamous), a bit of Need for Speed Underground in that you can complete missions and customize your Hulk's moves and attacks by adding more onto what he already knows, and a modernized version of the arcade classic Rampage all rolled into one. I initially purchased this game for my nephew to play while he visits and being almost 30 years old myself I even have a blast playing it. Some of the moves do get a bit complex in that you have to combine various buttons to complete them, but if my 9 year old nephew can figure them out then I'm sure you will be able to also. =) I have always been a role playing game fan myself and action based style games were never my thing, but after playing this game they will be in the future. 3 stars (Think Spider-Man 2--With a Not-So-Jolly Green Giant) - After the success of incorporating a Marvel superhero into a free-roaming adventure (AKA: Spider-Man 2), you can't really not expect for another superhero to get his or her own adventure. The end result is Ultimate Destruction. In Ultimate Destruction, players are able to control the Hulk and let him loose in San Francisco to cause havoc and chaos (After you complete a tutorial and your first mission). The game's story will not matter to you at all, since you'll probably be skipping all of the cinematics in order to run up buildings and hurl mini-vans into a parked sports car. The missions, however, are very repetitive, and the game doesn't use any of the random missions found in Spider-Man 2 (Such as stop a robbery, find a child's lost balloon, get involved in a high-speed car chase etc.).
